Transmission Rays

Freehand 7.0, Infini-D, Photoshop
Taking a stock image from a CD-ROM, I used Freehand to trace the silhouette. I exported that drawing as an eps and imported it into Infini-D. Using 3D volumetric lighting, I rendered the image against a transparent background. In Photoshop, I composed it on top of the purple color you see here.
